List of legendary F1 tracks on this year’s calendar
While Formula 1 continues to expand into new regions with legendary tracks, the championship remains well rooted in tradition. Many of the circuits that helped define the sport over the past 70-plus years are still regular stops, balancing innovation with heritage.
Alongside newer races in places like Miami and Las Vegas, fans can still enjoy some of the most iconic tracks in motorsport history. Notably, four circuits that were already part of the very first Formula 1 World Championship in 1950 continue to appear on the 2026 calendar: Silverstone, Monaco, Monza, and Spa-Francorchamps.
Rain, Risk, and Reputation in the Ardennes
Spa-Francorchamps is widely regarded as one of the ultimate challenges in Formula 1. Its original 15-kilometer layout followed fast public roads through the Ardennes forest and first hosted the Belgian Grand Prix in 1925. Although safety concerns led to a shortened configuration in the early 1980s, the circuit has retained its character. Since returning permanently in 1983, Spa has become famous for unpredictable weather and dramatic races. The 2026 event will take place from 17-19 July.

The Dutch Revival at Zandvoort
Opened in 1948, Zandvoort is the only circuit in the Netherlands ever to host a Formula 1 race. Although its appearances were once sporadic, the track returned to prominence in 2021 after a 30-year absence. The revival was fueled by passionate fans known as the orange army and the success of local hero Max Verstappen. The Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled for 21-23 August.

A Unique Summer Classic in Hungary
The Hungaroring holds a special place in Formula 1 history as the first race ever held behind the Iron Curtain. Since its debut in 1986, it has appeared on the calendar every single season, second only to Monza in uninterrupted presence. Located near Budapest, the narrow and technical circuit is known for tactical races and hot summer conditions. Formula 1 will race there from 24-26 July.

From Austrian Past to Modern Revival
Formula 1 racing in Spielberg dates back to 1970, when the Austrian Grand Prix was held at the Österreichring. After years of absence and extensive safety upgrades, the venue returned in 2014 under new ownership as the Red Bull Ring. Nestled in the Styrian hills, the short but intense circuit has quickly re-established itself as a fan favorite. The race weekend runs from 26-28 June.

Where It All Began: Silverstone
Built on a former World War II airfield, Silverstone opened in 1948 and made history two years later by hosting the first race of the modern Formula 1 World Championship. Despite its flat landscape, the circuit is known for high-speed corners and flowing sections that reward precision and bravery. A permanent home of the British Grand Prix since the late 1980s, it remains one of the most respected venues on the calendar. The 2026 race will be held from 3-5 July.

Speed, Tradition, and Tifosi at Monza
Monza is the oldest circuit still in active use in Formula 1. Situated in a park near Milan, it has hosted a world championship race every year since 1950, apart from a single absence. Its ultra-fast layout and long straights have earned it the nickname “The Temple of Speed.” Few places match the atmosphere created by Ferrari’s loyal tifosi, making Monza one of the most emotionally charged races of the season. The 2026 event takes place from 4-6 September.

Glamour on the Streets of Monaco
First used for racing in 1929, Monaco remains the most distinctive venue in Formula 1. The tight street circuit winds through the principality, offering minimal room for error and very limited overtaking opportunities. Despite these challenges, the Monaco Grand Prix is unmatched in prestige, combining elite motorsport with luxury yachts, celebrity guests, and a unique atmosphere. Formula 1 will arrive in Monaco from 5-7 June.
